Ahhh, this is late for no good reason. I kinda crapped out on wanted to work on this chapter for a while, and the whole doing more illustration and not just production and design at work has kinda given me a lot of excuses. I’m very sorry!!! BUT we’re like two chapters away from the next story ark (so, at the rate I work, you’ll see that sometime next year). I’ve got two trips planned for August, so I doubt I’ll be getting the next chapter out soon, but I will try my best. Anyway, read up!

PS: Naruto’s wang is making a reappearence in this chapter, and it will probably be in the next (and other pepole’s naked bits will being appearing as time goes on). So, for those people who love gore and violance but can’t stand the sight of a (not quite grown) man’s wedding tackle than you might want to stop reading.

Prologue: Redux is finished!!

It’s done!! I’ve been working on this off and on for OVER A FRACKING YEAR. I’ve redrawn it THREE FRACKING TIMES. But it’s DONE. Yes, it’s the definitive vision of the original prologue chapter. The text hasn’t changed beyond some minor edits. However, the first chapter was drawn waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 2004 and I like to think I’ve gotten better since then. And since I often wind up seeing it over and over again (due to it being the chapter understandably I get the most comments as people start reading–not all finish) I decided I didn’t want to have to look at old, old, ooooooooooooold art anymore. You can read the new version here, and if you’d like to compare, the old version is still here.

I’ve also finished penciling up to page 7, with a good chunk of page 8 done of chapter 13. Hopefully now that I’m not dividing my attention I’ll be able to wrap it up that much quicker. Stay tuned, kids, stay tuned.

Most insane hiatus ever (and really should have been announced here, for which you have my deepest apologies).

There’s been a lot of big life changes for me in the last six months, and that mixed with the usual crap that slows me down meant it’s been 2/3 of a year between updates. I hope that doesn’t ever happen again.

Point being, chapter 12 is done, and may be read in the ‘Doujinshi’ section seen to the left or by clicking here. I’m working on the script for chapter 13, and I’ve got a much better system down now since I moved. I’m no longer working in box mascaraing as an apartment, I have a nice two bedroom all to my self, and a wonderful 9-5 job with benefits that actually allows me free time and enough money that I’m not pulling as much overtime as possible just to make ends meet. I’ve also finished school, so I have all this wacky free time to fill.

That’s all for now, still want to get the re-do of the prologue done–we’ll see how long that takes ;p

Well, so much for keeping you guys updated. Second semester of collage really took over my life so there wasn’t much room for extra art on top. Match that with MangaStudio corrupting the file with all the work on the redo of the prologue and I haven’t gotten much done. BUT I just finished classes, I have my work term still but no homework to worry about and thanks to my student loan finally showing up (one day after classes ended, HA!) I’ve gone down to only working one day a week. Gotten up to page 8 of the prologue, and page 10 of Chapter 12. Hopefully I’ll have something more to show soon, and I’m sorry about disapearing again. No more school though, so I’m going to try to get back to turning out a chapter once a month/2 months. And here’s a WIP of the redo of page 7 of the prologue (see original here)

Re do of the original Prologue chapter that started it all

I feel very bad about essentially abandoning this page for so long without any notification, so I’m going to try to be a little more proactive in keeping everyone updated on my progress. Also, I’ve decided to do a complete redraw of the original prologue chapter. Mostly because it’s old and not up to par with my current skills and it’s the first thing people read so it out to look good. I”m also testing Manga Studio, just to toy with the idea of doing the chapters totally digitally. Right now the inks are all digital and the rest of the post work is done on the computer. However, if this works well I might switch since so far I’ve gotten 6 pages inked in about 4 hours, which means with a full day free I could get a whole chapter done (concievabley, if I focused and didn’t get distracted and planned everything out really well….ha!). I think once I’m done redoing the prologue I’ll have a vote to see if you like the new way vs old.

Also, I’ve gotten about 7 pages of Chapter 12 done, and it’s already drawn better than the last one. After 7 months of drawing for school I’m finally gaining the ability to make myself draw well on comand, not when I happen to be inspired.

Yes, I’m sure you all thought I’d given up, but I’m too stubborn (or to stupid) to do something like that. Chapter 11 is finally done after a very long hiatus. It started with some artist block that conveniently segwayed it’s way into the first semester of my Graphic Design course, and then I barely had time to eat and sleep let alone work on this. But, you don’t want to hear about that, you want to read the latest chapter, don’t you (don’t lie to me, I can see it on your face…). Not the most exciting chapter, mostly just setting things up for what is to come. And as an added side note I already have 6 pages of chapter 12 penciled and inked, so it’s like a third of the way done what I like to call the ‘pre-production’ stage.

PS: I’m thinking of doing a tutorial of how I go about making a page. Anyone interested?

Seariously, June? How has it taken me this long? *sigh* Sorry everyone, I am still working at this, but in pieces. I’ve gone back to school to study Graphic Design, which has been eating up a lot of my creative juices and free time. I’m moving at the end of the month, which should cut down on my commute and will put me closer to all the things I need (like accross the street from the grocery store, which when you don’t drive/have a car is friggin’ awsome) so that will free up some more time to work. I’ve finished inking chapter 11, I’ll hopefully get it scanned and the post work finished soon. I’ll try to post some WIPs later today, but part of the delay is that this is one of those ‘connecting’ chapters. Chapter 12 is gonna include some of the images that I’ve been waiting years to produce so my hope is that it will inspire me to get it done quicker. In the meantime you guys should hear from me soon and if you’d like to see some of my school stuff, just head on over to my DA page.

Chapter 11 is coming along, just getting distracted by some REALLY good books (and the slim possibility of getting a real job…ha!). Also, I finally finished the cover for volume 2 (which you can see above). Didn’t turn out as I wanted, mostly ’cause I didn’t take enough care when I was inking it, but not too bad. I’ll try to update later with some WIPs–this chapter will be nothing if not pretty.

Also still sketching the prizes for the latest contest, though the first place winner has yet to tell me what they want….weird. Anyway, hopefully I’ll get those out out the way soon. I’m in a bit of an art funk now, but hoperfully I’m emerging from that now.

Chapter 10 is finally finished!!! Well, more acurately it was finished yesterday but I still don’t have internet at my new aparment (supposedly by the end of today, which is why I’m doing this at work, thank you thursday for being so dead) and I had the day off and just couldn’t convince myself to drag my ass into the rain to find an internet cafe or something. But enough excuses, it’s time to announce the winners of the latest contest!!!!

The first place winner is…….(dramatic drumroll, OMG holly hell this is so exciting!!!) MatrixFoxDemon with “Hisaki-Keigan”!! S/He gets a 1 page omake featuring his/her oc/character of choice and a full body CG with simple bg of whatever s/he wants. Here’s what MatrixFoxDemon had to say about the name:

The name I chose is “Hisaki-Keigan”. Hisaki-Keigan is just a couple of Japanese words I put together. Hisaki means “flames”, and Keigan means “keen insight”. So, litterally, the name means “flames keen insight”, but it can also mean “flames of keen insight”. I hope you like it.
